Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you start your tours?
I start most of my tours in Bayeux where I live. Bayeux is the most popular town to stay in within Normandy for English speaking visitors. With plenty of restaurants and the famous Tapestry Museum and Cathedral. I can start in other places too - Caen, Cherbourg etc, but I usually need to charge extra to cover my transportation there.
Do you have some basic information about travelling to France?
Yes indeed, a good place to start is my Info page with a currency-converter and weather application. It also has general advice about France.
Where should I stay in Normandy?
Bayeux has many fine hotels and bed and breakfasts. Use TripAdvisor or Booking for the best deals and availability
What is your background?
You can read more about me on my About Me page. You can read the comments of previous clients here.
How do I book a tour with you?
Check if I am available when you plan to be in Normandy on my Availability. page. If I am free on the dates you will be in Bayeux, please send me an e-mail via the Contact page of my website.
How do you take payments?
I will explain this in my e-mail to you. You can either pay in advance via PayPal or in the day of the tour in cash - whatever is more convenient for you.
How much do your tours cost?
Full day tour with transport for up to 7 people 550€
Full day tour (step on) using your own vehicle 350€
The prices quoted are for tours starting in the Bayeux area. Prices from other starting points are available on request.
Do I need to be a DDay expert to tour with you?
Definitely not! I aim my tours at anyone with an interest in learning more. I will take you step by step through the events of June 1944. I am especially keen to guide groups of ladies and give a more women-focused tour. I also love guiding families with children, a type of tour some guides don't offer. As a parent myself I believe it is important to encourage children to learn about their past.
What about the weather In Normandy?
Normandy is often wet and windy, so having extra layers you can add is key. I also suggest sensible walking shoes or boots. Umbrellas can be useful, but often it is too windy to use them. Waterproof hats and coats are best, especially in the off season.
What about lunch?
I will discuss this with you on the day, but I know various nice places that are quick and offer good value. Some of these places have DDay exhibits and souvenirs.
Anything else?
